What it's for
Size charts and tape measures don't always use the same unit. This converts a single measurement, such as an underbust, bust, waist or hip measurement, between inches and centimetres using the exact definition 1 inch = 2.54 cm.
How to use it
- Choose the unit you measured in. It starts in inches; use the switch button for centimetres.
- Type the number. Decimals work with a dot or a comma (32.5 or 32,5).
- Read the result, rounded to two decimal places.
- Use Reset to clear the box and go back to inches.
Worked example
You measured your underbust as 30.5 inches, but a brand's chart is in centimetres. Enter 30.5 in inches and the result is 77.47 cm. Going the other way, 82 cm is 32.28 inches.
What the result means
The result is the same length in the other unit, nothing more. It isn't a size. Find that number in the brand's own chart, which may round, add inches or group measurements into ranges in its own way.
Limits
- It doesn't turn measurements into a bra or underwear size; brands and countries do that differently.
- It accepts values above 0 and up to 120 inches or 300 cm, and rejects text, negatives and blanks.
- Rounding to two decimals is more precise than a tape measure; round to what your chart uses.
